Northrim BanCorp Insider Lowered Holding By 69% During Last Year

Simply Wall St ·  Dec 19, 2024 14:04

From what we can see, insiders were net sellers in Northrim BanCorp, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:NRIM ) during the past 12 months. That is, insiders sold the stock in greater numbers than they purchased it.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Northrim BanCorp

The Independent Director, Linda Thomas, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$201k worth of shares at a price of US$79.00 each. So what is clear is that an insider saw fit to sell at around the current price of US$78.69. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. We note that this sale took place at around the current price, so it isn't a major concern, though it's hardly a good sign. Linda Thomas was the only individual insider to sell shares in the last twelve months.

In the last twelve months insiders purchased 1.04k shares for US$59k. But insiders sold 2.55k shares worth US$201k. Does Northrim BanCorp Boast High Insider Ownership?

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Insiders own 2.9% of Northrim BanCorp shares, worth about US$13m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
