PAKAR Pertanian Expo 2025 opened today at MAEPS Serdang, bringing together farmers, agropreneurs, and industry leaders to explore sustainable and innovative agricultural solutions. The event was officiated by Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities, Datuk Chan Foong Hin, who highlighted the sector's economic significance and the need for technological advancements.
"The agriculture sector, including agricommodities, contributed RM25.9 billion to the national GDP in Q4 2024, with the palm oil industry accounting for 38.5%," said Datuk Chan, citing data from the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM). He urged industry players to embrace smart farming, agri-technology investments, and modern techniques to enhance productivity and sustainability.
The expo, co-organised by 8tivation Studio Sdn Bhd and MARDI Corporation Sdn Bhd (MARDICorp), features 218 booths, 126 exhibitors, and over 630 local and international brands. Chief Operating Officer of 8tivation Studio, James Lim, described the event as a platform for "progress, innovation, and business opportunities in agriculture."
President of the Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences Association, Academician Tan Sri Emeritus Professor Datuk Dr. Augustine Ong Soon Hock, emphasised the role of research in sustainability, economic growth, and food security. The Recent Advancements in Agriculture Industry (RAAI) Conference, held during the expo, aims to translate research breakthroughs into practical solutions.
The three-day event includes live demonstrations of advanced farming technologies, business networking sessions, and expert-led panel discussions. PAKAR Pertanian Expo 2025 runs until Feb 22, 2025, at MAEPS Serdang, with free admission.
