The above powertrain system is developed by Great Wall Motor Honeycomb Yi Chuang Technology Co., Ltd. The latter, originally the parts business unit of Great Wall Motor, was spun off from Great Wall Motor in June 2018 and began to operate independently. At present, its main business is focused on engine, electric drive, intelligent steering and other power technology sectors.

With the help of electronic water pump, 350bar central direct injection system, two-stage VVL valve stroke, Miller cycle and other technologies, the 4N20 engine on display increases the engine thermal efficiency to 38.3%.

In terms of lightweight, the relevant R & D team of Great Wall Motor has made improvements in structural design and material application, reducing the weight of the 4N20 engine by 10% compared with the previous generation.

According to Great Wall Motor's official introduction, its 9DCT transmission is the world's first horizontal 9-speed wet double clutch transmission. It adopts integrated electronic pump design, highly integrated electronic module design, compact synchronizer design and other technologies, the bearing torque is increased by 54%, the axial space is saved by 5.8mm, the average weight is reduced by 2.6%, the carrying space is almost the same as the mass-produced 7DCT450 transmission, and the single gear shift is as durable as 580000 times.

Great Wall Motor said that the technical team integrated the P2 module on the basis of the conventional transmission. In the national standard fuel consumption test, compared with mainstream products, the fuel consumption of the 9DCT transmission is reduced by 7%, the fuel consumption of the HDCT transmission is reduced by 70%.

Industry insiders told the Future Automotive Daily (ID:auto-time) that the horizontal 9-speed wet double clutch transmission is a bright spot, but the actual experience depends on whether the shift logic setting of the gearbox is reasonable, and a good gearbox should be able to read the depth of the throttle and adjust the engine speed when increasing or slowing down to make the best response.

According to official figures, Great Wall Motor's 7DCT transmission has produced about 1.5 million units since it was mass produced in 2017, winning the title of "Top Ten transmissions in the World" for three consecutive years. The transmission has been installed in WEY brand conventional power models, Harvard F series and Harvard H6, H4 and other models.

In addition, the 4N20 engine has been researched and developed since 2016. at present, more than 277 individual tests have been carried out on more than 200 kinds of parts, and the whole machine has completed four-wheel reliability verifications. the test standards are more than 50% stricter than the national standard, and the total reliability test time has reached more than 5000 hours.
