Natural Gas May Start Winter With Below-Normal Stockpiles -- Market Talk

Dow Jones Newswires ·  Aug 13, 2021 00:13

1212 ET - After today's slightly-above-average weekly natural gas injection to storage, the late-October end of injection season is 12 weeks away, and it looks like inventories will finish bullishly below normal heading into winter. The EIA said Tuesday it expects storage to begin the winter withdrawal season at 3.592 tcf, or 4% below the five-year average. The University of Tulsa's Tom Seng says that would take a weekly average injection of 68 billion cubic feet. "I think we will end-up somewhere between this [EIA] forecast and 3.7 tcf which would be an average of 80 bcf per week," he says. (dan.molinski@wsj.com)
