Meituan announced his results for the third quarter of 2020 after the Hong Kong stock market closed today.

• Revenue in the third quarter was 35.4 billion yuan (RMB, same as below), compared with 27.5 billion yuan in the same period last year, an increase of 28.8 percent over the same period last year.

• The adjusted net profit in the third quarter was 2.055 billion yuan, an increase of 5.8% over the same period last year.

Segment data:

The revenue of catering takeout business in the third quarter was 20.7 billion yuan, an increase of 32.8% over the same period last year.

Revenue from arrival, hotel and tourism business increased 4.8% to 6.478 billion yuan in the third quarter compared with the same period last year.

New business and other income in the third quarter was 8.23 billion yuan, an increase of 43.5% over the same period last year.

Operating data:

The number of trading users increased 9.4 per cent year-on-year to 476.5 million, and the number of active merchants increased 9.5 per cent year-on-year to 6.5 million; the average number of transactions per transaction user per year was 26.8, up 0.9 per cent from a year earlier.

Analysts expect

According to consensus expectations by Bloomberg analysts, Meituan's Q3 revenue was 34.066 billion yuan, up 23.9% from a year earlier, while adjusted net profit was 1.007 billion yuan, down 16.1% from a year earlier.
