News from June 5th, Beijing time, applesBroadcom Inc. (Broadcom Inc.), one of the company's main suppliers, has hinted that this year's latest iPhone will be launched later than usual.
Broadcom CEO Hock Tan discussed a “major product cycle delay” for a “big phone in North America” customer on Thursday during an earnings call with analysts.
Tan is often used to refer to apples in this way. This time, the executive said that this delay would mean that Broadcom's wireless revenue growth this year would be one quarter later than usual.
“We're involved,” he said of the Broadcom component in the iPhone. “The problem is timing.”
“This year, we don't expect to see an increase in revenue until the fourth fiscal quarter,” the CEO added. “As a result, we expect our wireless revenue to decline accordingly in the third quarter.”
Bloomberg News previously reported that Apple plans to release the next iPhone may be a few weeks later than usual. The company usually releases new iPhones in the second half of September, but occasionally it releases important new models later in the year, such as the 2017 iPhone X.
