On the evening of May 22, at 7 PM,$XIAOMI-W (01810.HK)$the 15th anniversary Global Strategy new product launch conference will be held at the Peking Yichuang International Convention and Exhibition Center.
According to comprehensive media reports, this launch event covers four major areas: self-developed chips, flagship phones, high-end tablets, and Smart Automobile, which is seen by the market as an important milestone for XIAOMI's transformation from a Consumer Electronics company to a hard-core Technology enterprise.
It is worth mentioning that before this launch conference, XIAOMI's founder, Chairman, and CEO Lei Jun stated, "XIAOMI YU7 is the advanced SUV we have carefully crafted for the elite of the advanced era."
Self-developed chip "Xuánjiè O1"
The SoC Chip "Xuánjiè O1" self-developed by XIAOMI is undoubtedly the biggest highlight of this launch conference. Lei Jun expressed his feelings while reviewing the chip development journey of XIAOMI, from encountering setbacks with the establishment of the Surge S1 chip in 2014, to shifting focus to areas like fast charging and imaging to accumulate technical experience, and then resolutely restarting large chip R&D in 2021, formulating a long-term investment plan of "50 billion over ten years." XIAOMI has indeed faced numerous challenges on the road of chip development. By the end of April this year, the cumulative R&D investment in the Xuánjiè project has exceeded 13.5 billion yuan, with a R&D team size of over 2,500 people.
From a technical perspective, the "Xuanjie O1" adopts a second-generation 3nm process with a transistor count of up to 19 billion. Its CPU features a "1+3+4" octa-core tri-cluster design (Cortex-X4 super core + A720 mid-core + A520 energy-efficient core), and its GPU performance is comparable to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, with an AnTuTu score exceeding 1.92 million. The Geekbench 6 test data shows that the chip scores 3119 points in single-core and 9673 points in multi-core performance, showcasing impressive capability.
Sinolink points out that self-developed chips are a crucial part of XIAOMI-W's strategy to target the high-end market, facilitating in-depth collaboration between hardware and software and enhancing the differentiation competitiveness of smartphones. The launch of the Xuanjie O1 makes XIAOMI-W the fourth globally and the second domestically to have self-researched SoC capabilities, filling the gap in domestic advanced process design below 5nm, and holding significant exemplary significance for the development of the domestic chip industry. However, the research and development of chips still faces many challenges, such as continuous technological iteration, improving yield rates during mass production, and cost control, which XIAOMI-W needs to continue to focus on in order to establish a foothold in fierce market competition.
XIAOMI-W 15S Pro
As the first model to feature the "Xuanjie O1", the XIAOMI-W 15S Pro is highly anticipated. Current information indicates that the XIAOMI-W 15S Pro has passed radio approval and 3C certification, supports 90W fast charging and ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless transmission. Compared to its series counterpart, the XIAOMI-W 15 Pro, which comes with a 6.73-inch 2K ultra-smooth screen that supports a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 3200 nits; the imaging system employs a Leica 50 million triple-camera setup, including a main camera, ultra-wide-angle, and a 5x periscope telephoto; it is equipped with a 6100mAh Jinsha River Battery, supporting 90W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.
The XIAOMI-W 15S Pro is expected to achieve significant improvements over the XIAOMI-W 15 Pro in areas such as imaging, heat dissipation, system collaboration, and AI capabilities. In terms of imaging, the main camera may feature a 1-inch Sony LYT900 sensor with a variable aperture of F/1.4-4.0, paired with a 5x optical zoom periscope telephoto lens, which is expected to enhance the purity of night scenes by 40% compared to the previous generation.
Huaxin Securities analyzes that the XIAOMI-W 15S Pro, powered by the "Xuanjie O1" chip's strong computing power, has considerable advantages in performance and image processing, better fulfilling consumer demands for high-end mobile phones in gaming, photography, and other scenarios, thus aiding XIAOMI-W in further expanding its share in the high-end smartphone market.
XIAOMI-W Pad 7 Ultra
The XIAOMI-W Pad 7 Ultra will also make a significant appearance at this press conference. According to leaks, this tablet will feature a massive 14-inch screen and support 120W super flash charging, making it the highest positioned and most well-equipped product in the XIAOMI-W tablet lineup. Compared to the XIAOMI-W Pad 7 Pro, which comes with an 11.2-inch 3.2K 144Hz LCD screen, powered by Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and built-in 8850mAh battery supporting 67W fast charging, the XIAOMI-W Pad 7 Ultra is expected to make comprehensive upgrades in terms of screen quality, battery capacity, fast charging efficiency, and chip platform. Reports suggest it may feature either Snapdragon 8 Ultimate Edition or the "Xuanjie O1" chip, with options for up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, utilizing dual VC thermal plates and a Graphene composite structure for heat dissipation.
Zhongtai points out that as remote work and online learning become the norm, the market demand for large-screen tablets in productivity scenarios is steadily increasing. The Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra, with its ultra-large screen and powerful hardware configuration, supports PC-level WPS Office, multi-window split-screen operations, and is compatible with Apple's office software and common formats used by designers (such as PS and CAD). It is equipped with a 4096-level pressure-sensitive stylus and fingerprint unlock function, and is expected to become a 'mobile workstation', effectively competing with brands like Apple and Huawei in the high-end tablet market, promoting the tablet market towards professionalism and productivity.
Xiaomi YU7
The Xiaomi's first SUV model, the YU7, is also a major highlight of this press conference. According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the YU7 is positioned as a large pure electric SUV, with a body length close to 5 meters and a wheelbase of 3000mm. Its exterior design continues the family style of the SU7, featuring a closed front end and a continuous light strip design, with a fastback shape, and the roof is equipped with a laser radar, exuding a strong sense of technology. The rear is equipped with a hollowed-out spoiler and symmetrical C-shaped tail lights, making it highly recognizable. The interior features a brand-new PHUD (Heads-Up Display) system, eliminating the traditional dashboard and HUD, with the bottom of the windshield displaying various information such as battery level, speed, and navigation.
In terms of the power system, the Xiaomi YU7 offers single/dual motor versions, equipped respectively with lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium batteries, supporting pure electric drive with a maximum range of 820 kilometers, and also supports 800V high-voltage fast charging (charging for 5 minutes provides a range of 200 kilometers). Additionally, this model enhances the ecological interaction with Xiaomi smartphones and tablets, such as supporting UWB keyless unlocking and connectivity with smart home functions. Industrial Securities analysis believes that in the new energy vehicle market, the demand for SUV models is strong. With its smart connectivity advantages and Xiaomi's influence in the technology sector, the YU7 is expected to attract consumers seeking intelligent experiences. However, at the same time, the SUV market is highly competitive, with models like the Tesla Model Y already occupying a significant market share. The YU7 needs continuous optimization in brand building, product quality, and after-sales service to stand out in the market.
Overall, this press conference not only summarizes Xiaomi's development over the past 15 years but also serves as a key showcase of its technological layout for the future.
