Toyota Tsusho Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Toyota Tsusho) has decided to acquire all shares of Mitsui & Co. Agri-Foods, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as Mitsui & Co. Agri-Foods), a subsidiary of Mitsui & Co., and fully consolidate it as a subsidiary effective June 2, 2025.
Consequently, Mitsui & Co. Agri-Foods will change its name to Toyotsu Agri-Foods, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as Toyotsu Agri-Foods) and plans to integrate with Toyotsu Foods during this fiscal year.
Mitsui & Co. AgriFoods is a food specialty trading company that handles agricultural products such as rice, soybeans, peanuts, and nuts. With its rice business accounting for 60% of sales, it has strong product development capabilities and a wide sales network, collaborating with major supermarkets and convenience stores for product development.
This integration aims to diversify the business through the merger of Mitsui & Co. Agri-Foods and Toyotsu Foods and to enhance corporate value.
Currently, Toyo Suisan is dealing with a wide range of food products including meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, soybeans, wine, seasonings, and processed foods. By newly acquiring Mitsui & Co. AgriFoods' rice business, further expansion of the business foundation is anticipated. Additionally, for the food products handled by both companies, such as soybeans, peanuts, and nuts, creating synergies will achieve market Share expansion and accelerate Global business development.
Moreover, the fusion of the high-yield rice "Shiki Yutaka" developed by Toyoda Gosei and the processed food business of Toyo Suisan with Mitsui & Co. AgriFoods' product development capabilities and sales network is also being considered, aiming to provide socially valuable products.
