With the new wave of AI enthusiasm sparked by large models, combined with the Chinese government's key task deployment for AI. In recent years, 'AI+' has been mentioned multiple times in important meetings and documents at both the central and local levels, making the implementation of large models an important direction. What does this mean for domestically-developed large models?

Productivity tools are transforming into AI all-round assistants.

JPMorgan's latest Research Reports indicate that by 2025, generative AI applications in China will cross a critical point, driving the scale of Internet service consumption to achieve exponential growth, and digital transformation of enterprises along with smart experience upgrades on the consumer end are expected to form a two-way drive.

From copywriting to image generation, from video editing to presentation document creation, generative AI has quietly transformed into people's 'all-round partner', deeply integrating into workplace collaboration and daily life scenarios, becoming an indispensable digital productivity tool.

The "Statistics Report on the Development of the Internet in China" shows that as of December 2024, the user scale of generative AI products in China reaches 0.249 billion people, accounting for 17.7% of the total population.

According to consulting firm Gartner, by 2028, at least 15% of routine tasks will be completed autonomously by agents, and 33% of enterprise software will also include agents. Some believe that 2025 will be the year of commercialization for agents.

AI empowerment serves as the upgrade engine for AI applications.

AI large models, through technological empowerment and ecological restructuring, are becoming the core engine for intelligent transformation across various industries. Its value is not only reflected in efficiency improvement and cost optimization but also in promoting industrial upgrades through model innovation and ecological collaboration.

Hu Jianbo, Vice President of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, stated that new generation AI and other digital technologies will further promote efficiency transformation in manufacturing, and are expected to drive comprehensive innovations in factory R&D, production, organization, and services in the future.

For example, in the financial services sector, Financial Institutions use AI applications and deep analysis of vast data to achieve intelligent risk identification and the upgrade of Personal Services, simultaneously enhancing customer experience and risk control efficiency. In the Medical field, AI demonstrates unique advantages in disease prediction, drug development, and optimizing personalized treatment plans, effectively improving treatment outcomes and increasing the utilization rate of medical resources.

Moreover, in Consumer scenarios such as online video, tourism, live streaming, and literature, AI technology is also accelerating its application integration.

In recent years, domestic AI large models have made significant progress in innovative technologies and architectures. The latest issue of the 'China AI Application Ranking' released by AIGC Rank shows that in the February ranking, Quark topped the industry for two consecutive months with 34.298 million daily active users, followed by DeepSeek and Doubao.

With the iterative evolution of AI technology, the information services industry is entering a critical point of generational transformation. The Quark 'AI Super Box,' driven by reasoning and multi-modal large models, breaks through the traditional search box model by integrating five key capabilities: conversation, thinking, searching, researching, and execution into a minimalist 'Super Box,' where users only need to enter instructions to trigger the intelligent hub that automatically completes tasks across various scenarios such as searching, writing, diagram drawing, PPT generation, academic research, and health consulting.

This means that it will completely reconstruct how users obtain information and make decisions in learning, work, and life scenarios, achieving a leap in efficiency.

Pan Helin, a member of the Information and Communications Economic Expert Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, told China News Service that Quark initially attracted users through its simple interface and rich resources, and has now transformed into a comprehensive AI large model application. Its success or failure hinges on whether it can effectively convert its existing user base and maintain its capacity to meet needs.

Economist Ma Guohua said after comparing several well-known AI applications: 'I think the biggest difference of Quark is that it is particularly convenient and easy to use; everything can be done within an AI Super Box.' It has reached a new level in application, where a small box can understand intent and meet needs.

The global competitiveness of domestic large models.

In the current global AI competition, China is accelerating breakthroughs in key technology areas, especially in the research and development of large models. Through the triple drive of algorithm innovation, computing power breakthroughs, and data advantages, the technological generation gap with internationally leading teams has significantly narrowed.

From model scale, computing performance to technological originality, China’s AI industry has built a complete ecological chain covering basic research, application development, and industrial implementation, demonstrating strong international competitive potential in the intelligent era.

Less than a year after the release of ChatGPT, more than 130 local large models have emerged in China, with over a hundred models at the 1 billion parameter level, far surpassing the USA. In terms of performance, it has achieved a leapfrog advancement, as Alibaba Cloud's Qwen2-72B model outperformed domestic and international competitors in authoritative evaluations, including the strongest open-source model Llama3-70B. With its technological strength and open ecosystem, the open-source version of Qwen quickly topped the OpenCompass global Chinese model download list, providing strong computing power support for industrial innovation.

The rapid rise of AI applications in China is attributable to the synergistic effect of multiple factors. From a large user base to diverse scene demands, from policy support to technology research and development, Chinese tech companies have emerged in global competition through unique paths. In this process, localized deep insights combined with technological innovation have paved the way for the rapid popularization and implementation of AI applications.

In the "2025 Global Top 100 Generative AI Consumer Applications Ranking" released by the authoritative global investment fund a16z, Quark achieved 6th place globally, a success attributed to its in-depth exploration in the landing of AI application scenarios. With a massive user scale of over 0.2 billion, it demonstrates leading scale effects globally.

The aforementioned user base provides ample training data support for its model optimization and upgrades. AI solutions such as AI search, AI writing, AI summarization, and AI PPT have been launched in high-frequency scenarios like information retrieval, office efficiency, and content production, effectively addressing users' practical issues in learning, work, and life, and lowering the threshold for using AI technology.

$Alibaba (BABA.US)$ Group Vice President Wu Jia stated that in the near future, AI will think, execute, and interactively adjust during the process to complete the final task delivery. It is reported that Quark will also be the first to connect with Alibaba's Tongyi series of the most advanced models, which will reconstruct the interaction logic and capability map of AI applications, not only giving rise to new demand scenarios but also injecting strong development momentum into the global AI ecosystem.
