Bursa Malaysia ended lower on Monday as market sentiment remained cautious due to tariff uncertainties and weaker-than-expected economic data from China and the US.

The FBM KLCI fell 10.81 points or 0.7% to close at 1,536.46, hitting its lowest level of the day. Declines in Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TENAGA) and Maxis Bhd (MAXIS) weighed on the index, while the technology sector faced heavy selling pressure, tumbling more than 2.8%.

Overall, 731 counters declined, outweighing 254 gainers, while 425 remained unchanged, and 972 were untraded. The broader FTSE Malaysia All-Share Index also closed lower, dropping 107.70 points to 11,413.10.

Trading activity saw 3.1 billion shares changing hands, with a total turnover of RM2.43 billion. Meanwhile, the ringgit stood at 4.4207 against the US dollar as of 5 pm.
