Golden10 Data ·  Mar 6 22:14

The USA National Weather Service forecasts that from March 11 to 15, temperatures may be above normal from the Central Plains to the East Coast.

The following is the Agriculture weather alert for the USA on Thursday, March 6, 2025, exclusively compiled by the Golden Ten Futures APP.

Western USA

Scattered rain and snow weather is unfolding from California to the central Rocky Mountains and parts of the Four Corners region. For the southwestern areas that have experienced extreme drought during winter, any form of precipitation is extremely beneficial, although it may be too late to significantly improve the runoff outlook for spring and summer.

Central Plains of the USA

According to the report from the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service at the end of February, surface soil moisture is rated as very short to short, from 35% in Kansas to 83% in South Dakota. On the same day, South Dakota led other major producing states in the region with 42% of its winter Chicago SRW Wheat in very poor to poor condition, followed by Nebraska (38%), Texas (33%), and Oklahoma (29%). Earlier today, light snow covered parts of the central high plains, while the threat of wildfires in the southern high plains is returning.

Cool, dry, and windy weather is prevalent, except near the Great Lakes. In the upper Midwest, blizzard recovery efforts are still ongoing, with the heaviest snow observed from western Iowa to northern Wisconsin. Official data shows that Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota received 9.5 inches of snow from March 4-5, accompanied by peak north winds of 45 miles per hour.

Southern USA

This morning, frost and freezing phenomena extended into central Louisiana. Meanwhile, in the southeast, cool and windy weather prevails following the severe weather outbreak on Wednesday, which has led to numerous wind damage observations in Virginia and the Carolinas. Many southern regions have become wet due to the recent heavy rains.

Weather Outlook

Ongoing disturbances will move eastward across the USA, generating widespread light precipitation. For the remainder of today through Friday, a low-pressure system originating from the western USA will produce accumulating snow from the inland West to the western Corn Belt, particularly from Wyoming to Iowa. Subsequently, a trailing weather system will traverse the southern USA, with rainfall expected over the weekend from the southeastern plains to the southern Atlantic coast. Some areas of the southern high plains may experience a wet snow cover. By early next week, a new round of precipitation may affect Southern California and the Southwest, while a surge of cold air will sweep across the northern plains and the upper Midwest.

The USA Weather Bureau's forecast for March 11 to 15 indicates above-normal temperatures may occur from the Central Plains to the East Coast, while the northern high plains and much of the West will see below-normal temperatures. Meanwhile, near or below-normal precipitation along the central and southern Atlantic coasts of the USA should contrast with the wetter weather expected in other parts of the country.
