In January, Taiwan Semiconductor's sales amounted to 293.288 billion New Taiwan dollars, with a month-on-month growth of 5.4% and a year-on-year growth of 35.9%.
Taiwan Semiconductor reported that on January 21, the Taiwan region experienced a magnitude 6.4 earthquake, followed by several significant aftershocks during the Lunar New Year holiday period. The company's fabs did not sustain structural damage, and water supply, Electrical Utilities, safety systems, and operations are normal. However, a certain number of production wafers were affected after the multiple earthquakes. Thus, Taiwan Semiconductor's consolidated revenue expectations for the first quarter of 2025 are projected to be closer to the lower end of the outlook at 25 billion to 25.8 billion dollars. Initial estimates indicate that related earthquake losses, net of Insurance claims, will be recognized at approximately 5.3 billion New Taiwan dollars in the first quarter of 2025.
Nonetheless, the gross margin in the first quarter is still expected to be between 57% and 59%, while the operating profit margin is anticipated to range from 46.5% to 48.5%. Taiwan Semiconductor is actively working to compensate for production losses and is maintaining its financial outlook for the year.
