On February 1st, Beijing time, according to a report by Reuters, US President Trump met with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang at the White House on Friday. According to insiders, the two discussed the recent sensation DeepSeek and the tightening of AI chip exports.
Trump did not disclose details of the meeting but referred to Huang as a "gentleman." "I can't say what will happen next. We met, and it was a very good meeting," Trump stated.
Insiders said that the meeting was arranged before DeepSeek shocked the tech world. Trump believes that DeepSeek's rise means that "US companies do not need to invest large amounts of money to create low-cost AI alternatives."
A spokesperson for NVIDIA stated in a press release: "We are grateful for the opportunity to meet with President Trump and discuss Semiconductors and AI policies. Huang discussed the importance of strengthening America's technology and AI leadership with the president."
