The Nikkei average is up 341 yen (as of 1:50 PM). In terms of contribution to the Nikkei average, Fast Retailing <9983>, Advantest <6857>, and TDK <6762> are ranked high in positive contributions, while Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063>, Kddi Corporation <9433>, and Daiichi Sankyo <4568> are among the top negative contributors. In sectors, Nonferrous Metals, Electric Appliances, Securities Futures, Service Industry, and Iron & Steel are leading in terms of rate of increase, while Pharmaceuticals, Mining, Marine Transportation, Precision Instruments, and Pulp & Paper are leading in terms of rate of decrease.
The Nikkei average is experiencing a firm decline. After three consecutive days of declines until yesterday, resulting in a drop exceeding 900 yen, there seems to be an inclination for self-rebound targeting and buying on dips to continue in the first half of the day. On the other hand, today, the earnings reports of ASML Holding, a major Dutch semiconductor manufacturing company, are scheduled, and in the USA tonight, the results from the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) and a press conference by Federal Reserve Chairman Powell are expected, which may cause some to hold back on aggressive buying to assess these events.
