HEB 40% Owned Consortium Secures 95 MWAC LSS Plant Project In Perak
The LSS plant is the second project under HEB Group's recurring and long-term income-based contracts vertical, after the 29.99-MW solar photovoltaic plant project in Kuala Muda, Kedah. HSS Engineers Berhad is expanding its RE business with the second venture by developing a 95-Megawatt Alternating Current (MWAC) Large Scale Solar Photovoltaic Plant in Teluk Intan, Perak.

HEB Group's wholly owned subsidiary HEB Energy Sdn Bhd and its consortium partner Unique Fire Holdings Berhad have accepted a Letter of Notification from the Energy Commission to undertake the development of the LSS plant. The consortium of HEB Energy and Unique Fire will undertake the development project, encompassing financing, design, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, completion, operation, and maintenance of the LSS plant. The estimated commercial operation date of the LSS plant will be 11 October 2027. HEB Energy will own a 40% equity stake in a special purpose vehicle for the implementation of the project, while Unique Fire will hold the remaining 60%.

The LSS plant is part of the Government of Malaysia's fifth LSS bidding exercise, also known as LSS-Peralihan Tenaga SuRia (LSS PETRA). The initiative is aimed at supporting Malaysia's goal of achieving 70% renewable energy capacity by 2050, as outlined in the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).
The development of the LSS plant in Teluk Intan, Perak, is contingent upon the consortium executing a Solar Power Purchase Agreement with a corporate consumer to commit to purchasing solar energy generated by the LSS plant for 21 years. HSS said the project, will be funded via internally generated funds and/or external borrowings, will contribute positively to the Group's financial performance from 2027 onwards.
