Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla (TSLA.US) is under investigation by USA transportation safety regulators concerning issues related to the company's "Advanced Smart Summon (ASS)" feature.

According to Zhito Finance APP, the electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla (TSLA.US) is facing an investigation by USA traffic safety regulatory agencies concerning its "Advanced Smart Summon (ASS)" feature.

The investigation involves approximately 2.585 million Tesla vehicles, including Model S and X from 2016 to 2025, Model 3 from 2017 to 2025, and Model Y equipped with Full Self Driving (FSD) software from 2020 to 2025.

Smart Summon and Advanced Smart Summon are features on certain Tesla vehicles that allow users to remotely move their cars to themselves or another designated location using a mobile app.

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has received one complaint stating that the "Smart Summon" feature led to an accident and has reviewed at least three media reports of similar accidents.

All four of these incidents involved Tesla vehicles operating under the "Smart Summon" system that failed to detect a nearby or parked vehicle, resulting in accidents.

The ODI has initiated a preliminary assessment to investigate the functionality of the "Advanced Smart Summon," as it relates to the theme and similar collisions, including the operation and on-site performance of the system in vehicles equipped with FSD and those provided during free trials.

As early as October last year, the NHTSA launched another investigation into 2.4 million Tesla Autos equipped with FSD Software, following four accident reports. In one such accident, a Tesla struck and killed a pedestrian.
