Shu Mingjiang, the Chief Safety Officer of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, stated at a press conference that it is expected that in 2024, civil aviation in mainland China will complete 13.81 million hours of transport flights, 5.39 million flights, and a passenger transportation volume of 0.73 billion people, with annual growth rates of 13.1%, 9.5%, and 18%, respectively, reaching a historical high. During this year's Spring Festival travel season, the average daily flight plan nationwide is about 18,500 flights, an annual increase of 8.4%.
At major international hub airports, the planned flight volume in Peking increased by over 5%, while the planned flight volumes in Shanghai and Chengdu also showed some growth. The planned flight volumes at popular winter getaway and ice and snow tourism destination airports such as Sanya, Haikou, Harbin, and Urumqi are expected to increase significantly.
