Ctrip's New Year's report shows that on the evening of December 31, 2024, hotel bookings in the mainland increased by more than 150% week on week, with hotel bookings tagged with hot springs and audiovisual rooms increasing by over 50%. Nearly 60% of the New Year's Eve hotel orders come from the '90s and '00s generations.
The report also indicates that from December 31 to January 1, the overall inbound tourism order volume doubled year on year, with inbound tourism orders from South Korea and Japan, the two neighboring countries, increasing by 215% and 145% respectively year on year.
Ctrip Research Institute believes that for Japanese and South Korean travelers, the expenses spent on transportation are lower than those of long-distance travelers from Europe and the United States, allowing for more consumer budgets to be allocated to dining, accommodation, and entertainment. Taking South Korean travelers as an example, nearly 60% of the accommodations chosen during New Year's Eve are high-star hotels.
