Tesla is recalling 77,650 locally built cars in China for a faulty tire pressure monitoring system, as well as 63 imported vehicles for airbag safety concerns.

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) is conducting new recalls in China, mainly due to a software glitch.

Effective immediately, the company is recalling a total of 77,650 locally produced Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles with production dates between September 28, 2021, and November 22, 2024, according to a statement issued on the website of China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR).

Due to a software strategy, some vehicles do not display a monitored tire pressure monitoring system malfunction immediately after startup, according to the announcement.

Tesla will upgrade the software for vehicles within the recall through OTA (over-the-air) technology for free, and for vehicles that cannot be upgraded through OTA technology, the recall will be implemented by contacting users through Tesla service centers.

Additionally, Tesla is recalling a total of 63 imported Model S and Model X EVs with production dates between November 20, 2024 and November 26, 2024 with immediate effect.

Due to the supplier's manufacturing process, the driver's frontal airbag bag fabric in these vehicles may be damaged during assembly.

In extreme cases, when the airbag is triggered to deploy in a crash, the airbag bag may tear and fail to function as designed to protect, according to the announcement.

Tesla will replace the driver's frontal airbag free of charge for the vehicles within the recall to eliminate the safety hazard.
