Malaysian Airports reported an unprecedented surge in passenger movements for November recording a double-digit growth of 16% over the same corresponding month for both Malaysia and Turkey operations in a conventionally low season. Total passenger movements recorded 11.2million passengers, trending close to pre-pandemic level at 96.7%.

The international sector's robust traffic continues to drive growth, recording 6.0million passengers, a 21.8% increase over November 2023 and exceeding pre-pandemic levels by 9.1%. The strong traffic momentum was supported by new airline operations, the introduction of 5 new routes and 42 additional weekly frequencies. The domestic sector was equally buoyant, recording 5.1million passenger movements, a double-digit growth over November 2023, reaching 85.4% of pre-pandemic 2019
levels.

On the local front, Malaysia Airports passenger movements continue to grow handling 7.7million passengers, a 15.8% increase over November 2023. The international sector was resilient, recording 4.1million passengers, driven by new airline operations and the commencement of new routes.

Domestic movements in November 2024 recorded 3.6million passengers, reaching 83.4% of prepandemic levels. The average load factor for November 2024 was 78.8%, a 5.4 percentage point with airlines seat capacity at 82.9% over pre-pandemic levels. These encouraging dynamics in air travel reflect an optimistic demand that would support a positive traffic trajectory for recovery.

In November 2024, Istanbul SGIA recorded 3.5million passengers continue to be driven by the international sector as airlines continue to expand to new routes and adding frequencies, marking a 16.6% growth over November 2023 and surpassing 2019 levels by 20.7%. International and domestic passenger movements at both sectors were robust, sustaining high average load factors above 80% with 1.9million and 1.6million passengers, reflecting an increase of 24.3% and 8.6% over November 2023, respectively
