PRINX CHENGSHAN (01809.HK) announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary PRINX CHENGSHAN Tires North America has notified the USA Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of a voluntary safety recall of some Fortune Tormenta and PRINX Hicountry tires sold as replacement tires.
These tires are marked as snow tires according to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe's Regulation No. 117 "Uniform provisions concerning the approval of tires with regard to rolling noise and/or wet traction and/or rolling resistance" but do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 139 "New Pneumatic Tires for Light Vehicles" for traction under all snowy weather conditions, which may increase the risk of a collision.
The potential number of tires involved in this recall in North America is 541,632. The company is still assessing the impact of the recall on financial performance.
