On December 16, Caixin reported that in response to the news that "Xiaomi Air Conditioner compensated Gree 0.5 million due to infringement," Xiaomi's public relations head Wang Hua responded today, stating that Xiaomi Air Conditioner did not engage in patent infringement and has not compensated due to patent infringement.

Wang Hua, General Manager of Xiaomi's Public Relations Department, retweeted a Weibo post from Xiaomi's spokesperson on July 10 this year and stated: "Today's news report, after further verification, is inaccurate. First: Xiaomi Air Conditioner did not engage in patent infringement; Second: Xiaomi Air Conditioner has not compensated due to patent infringement."

Recently, Dong Mingzhu, Chairman of Gree Electric Appliances, Inc.of Zhuhai, revealed in a program that Xiaomi recently compensated Gree 0.5 million due to patent infringement. She confidently stated: "I can say that Gree has the best Air Conditioner in the world, and we have hundreds of thousands of patents."

On July 9 this year, Gree announced that regarding the case of the Mijia Xiaomi Fan BPTS01DM sold in Xiaomi's official flagship store infringing on Gree Electric Appliances' patent rights, on December 22, 2022, the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court made a first-instance ruling [(2021) Yue 73 Zhi Min Chu 1399], ruling that its actions constituted infringement and compensating Gree for economic losses and rights protection costs.

The ruling shows that the two defendants are respectively Dreamer (Zhejiang) Technology Co., Ltd. (formerly known as Zhejiang Xingyue Electric Co., Ltd.) and Dongguan JD.com Lisheng Trading Co., Ltd. Gree also mentioned that the former is the manufacturer of the fan, and Xiaomi indirectly holds about 8% of its shares, while the latter is a company under JD.com.
