According to Reuters on November 28th, Google requested the US Court of Appeals to overturn the jury's verdict and the judge's order to force it to redesign the Google Play app store. In its first detailed argument submitted to the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, Google claimed that the trial judge made legal errors and unfairly benefited the plaintiff, Epic Games, the maker of "Fortnite." Google stated in court documents that a "thorough redesign" of Google Play and its mobile operating system Android would harm the interests of app developers and consumers. Epic, on the other hand, stated in a declaration on Wednesday that Google's appeal was based on "defective arguments" that the jury had rejected, and this baseless appeal was Google's desperate attempt to avoid complying with the jury's unanimous verdict. In a lawsuit in 2020, Epic accused Google of monopolizing the way consumers access applications on Android devices and how they make payments for transactions within the applications.
