Rebase, which provides services such as the rental space reservation platform "Instabase," announced its interim financial results for the fiscal period ending March 2025 on November 13.
For the cumulative second quarter, revenue reached 868 million yen, a 31.6% increase year-on-year, and operating profit was 213 million yen, an increase of 59.1%, achieving significant growth in both revenue and profit. In addition to the steady growth in business-related usage, the utilization of workboxes and coworking facilities, which increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, has continued to expand even after the pandemic's peak. Due to high contribution margins and increased productivity, the profit growth rate exceeded the revenue growth rate. The key performance indicator of usage numbers reached 663,000 cases (51% progress rate against performance estimates), total usage value was 2900 million yen (48%), and the number of listed spaces increased by 4,300 cases (58%) to a total of 38,500 cases. Effective online marketing has led to an increase in inflow to the site, particularly with a remarkable expansion in small group usage; the average unit price remains stable even as small group usage increases, and the expansion of alliances with major companies (Osaka Prefectural Housing Supply Corporation, Coin Space, Gold's Gym, Tokyo Electric Power HD, Resona Group) and the increase in new space categories such as glamping have significantly boosted the number of listings.
The period when recognition and demand for Instabase is highest is the third quarter, from October to December, and performance remains strong against the full-year estimates. The full-year revenue forecast is set at 1806 million yen, an increase of 21.2% compared to the previous period, and operating profit remains at 380 million yen, an increase of 13.6%.
Instabase is one of the largest matching platforms for rental spaces in japan, allowing flexible reservation of rental spaces on an hourly or daily basis nationwide. As of September 2024, the number of listed spaces has exceeded 38,500. There are no initial registration fees or monthly listing fees, and revenue is generated solely from commissions on reservations made through Instabase, operating under a "complete success-based model." From April 2023 to March 2024, the ratio of uses by reservation purpose shows that business accounts for 34%, hobbies, play, and parties 20%, lessons and seminars 13%, studying and reading 11%, and sports and fitness 10%, maximizing the number of reservations across a wide range of uses. The overall average repeat rate is 69%.
The company has expanded its portfolio into a wide range of uses without being biased toward specific purposes, allowing it to increase the number of reservations even during the pandemic. Additionally, through data-driven marketing, the company has significantly increased the number of reservations in high-repeat-use categories. In March 2022, the company registered in the travel business, listing numerous hotel rooms, including those from major chain hotels, for hourly rental, quickly responding to changes in the environment such as the growth of remote work. Going forward, there are hopes for new business creation in addition to Instabase's steady growth. The new service "TOIRO" has already started its rollout. This service allows event organizers to manage scheduling and attendance for events, with convenient features being progressively developed and implemented. There are expectations for synergistic effects with Instabase, and attention is warranted on how it will contribute to revenue in the medium to long term.
