Citigroup released a research report stating that the National Press and Publication Administration announced that a total of 112 domestic and 7 imported online games were approved in November, marking the second time this year that two were approved simultaneously. Although the scale of domestic game approvals is roughly the same as before, the release time of imported game approvals is earlier than expected, deviating from the previous pattern of one approval every two months. In addition, Tencent (00700.HK) did not receive game approvals this time, but Netease (09999.HK)'s imported game approval for "Live Football Online" made it to the list.
Citigroup stated that although the scale of approvals this time is smaller, the frequency of imported game approvals is higher, which may indicate a healthier regulatory environment in the future, reflecting positive industry development. A total of 1,282 games have been approved so far this year, including 1,184 domestic games and 98 imported games. The bank is keeping an eye on whether China will approve other imported game licenses in December.
