TalentCorp's Impact Study Identifies Critical Skill Sets In AI, Digitalisation and Green Economy
Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd (TalentCorp) is set to incorporate the findings of its impact study of artificial intelligence (AI), digitalisation and green economy into MyMAHIR digital platform, enabling upskilling and reskilling of local workforce to meet industry demand, according to a press statement released by Talentcorp dated Nov 18.

MyMAHIR is a comprehensive digital platform that integrates the findings of TalentCorp's impact study to provide valuable insights into industry trends, emerging job roles, skill requirements, career pathways, and training programmes across various sectors.

A total of ten key sectors have been featured in the impact study, including Aerospace, Chemicals, Electrical & Electronics, Energy & Power, Food Manufacturing & Service, Global Business Services, ICT, Medical Devices, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, and Wholesale & Retail Trade which collectively contributed RM933 billion (60%) of Malaysia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2023.

Additionally, 60 emerging roles have been identified, such as AI engineers, sustainability specialists, and bio-process engineers, which are pivotal to advancing Malaysia's green and digital economy.

Looking ahead, the study will expand to cover 12 additional sectors in 2025.

Minister of Human Resources Steven Sim announced that through the ministry's RM3 billion fund, levies, credits, scholarships, and matching grants will be offered to support workforce upskilling and reskilling. Incentives for in-demand courses, as well as special scholarships for critical skill, are also under consideration.
