The Airlines for America (A4A) stated that during Thanksgiving, a record-breaking number of nearly 80 million travelers are expected by road, air, and cruise, with over 31 million air passengers, higher than last year's 29 million and pre-COVID-19 28 million in 2019.
During the period from November 26 (two days before Thanksgiving) to December 2, the number of travelers is 1.7 million more than the same period last year. The daily average number of airline passengers has increased by 5% to 2.8 million compared to last year, with over 3 million passengers on November 27 (Thanksgiving Eve) and December 1 (Thanksgiving weekend end) each day.
The organization also mentioned that this year's Thanksgiving international flight bookings have increased by 23% compared to last year, but the average ticket prices have decreased by 5% compared to last year.
