Hong Kong unicorn, delivery platform Lalamove announced plans to open business in Istanbul, Turkey, and expand to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Along with the newly opened business in Turkey, Lalamove has now expanded to a total of 13 markets in Asia, Latin America, and EMEA regions.
Lalamove stated that Turkey, located at the crossroads of the EMEA region, is considered a crucial strategic hub for global trade, logistics involving manufacturing, and one of the participating countries in the Belt and Road Initiative. The local active improvements and development of new shipping logistics infrastructure, such as the development of the Trans-Caspian international transportation corridor connecting Turkey and the European railroad system, are driving increasing logistics demands with significant development potential.
Lalamove also mentioned that Turkey has 3 million small and medium-sized enterprises. Among them, online sales only account for 3.5% of the total retail sales, indicating significant growth potential.
