Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has recently invested in the French electric motorcycle manufacturer “Electric Motion SAS (hereafter, Electric Motion),” which develops and manufactures electric trial bikes and electric off-road motorcycles. This investment aims to improve the presence of both companies in the electric motorcycle market and explore the possibilities of electric motorcycle racing vehicles, bringing in the knowledge and capabilities of both companies as strategic partners and seeking collaboration in technology development.
Since its establishment in 2009, Electric Motion has launched products under the “EM” brand name in about 40 countries around the world, including Japan, and has been steadily increasing its presence in the trial and off-road competition vehicle markets. The company's products have shown spectacular results at trial world championships and the world's highest electric off-road bike race “FIM E-XPLORER WORLD CUP.”
Under the Yamaha Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050, we aim to be carbon neutral* throughout our supply chain, including our business activities, by 2050. We will continue to promote research and development of technologies and products that contribute to sustainability in order to realize a sustainable society.
* Other emissions, including product use and raw material procurement, other than emissions from business sites, factories, and corporate activities including energy purchases (Scope 1.2.)
