According to a document submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Thursday evening, 'Stock God' Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway continued to significantly increase its stake in the satellite broadcasting company $Sirius XM (SIRI.US)$by buying approximately 2.2 million shares of the company at a price of around $60 million in recent days.
On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week, $Berkshire Hathaway-B (BRK.B.US)$ purchased these shares at an average price of $27 per share. After the latest increase, Berkshire currently holds 0.1125 billion shares of Sirius XM stocks, with a 33.2% stake, worth $3 billion. Berkshire was already the largest shareholder of Sirius XM.
In fact, Berkshire Hathaway has added to its Sirius XM stocks several times this year, with the last increase taking place in mid-October when it bought over $42 million worth of SiriusXM stocks.
Berkshire's current investment in Sirius XM does not appear to be successful, as subscription user growth faces resistance and revenue growth stagnates, Sirius XM's stock price has fallen by over 50% this year.
In pre-market trading on Friday, Sirius XM's stock price rose by 2.51%. During regular trading hours, the stock fell by about 2.7%, after the company released lower-than-expected performance reports.
Sirius XM is a North American radio entertainment company that provides live broadcasts, planning, and other services through satellite broadcasting, offering content such as music, sports, drama, talk shows, news, mainly maintaining stable profits through in-car scenarios. SiriusXM also acquired the former music streaming giant Pandora.
The official website shows that SiriusXM's revenue for the 2023 fiscal year reached $8.95 billion, with EBITDA and net income of $2.79 billion and $1.26 billion respectively. The number of listeners reached 0.15 billion, with approximately 34 million subscribers.
