This Insider Has Just Sold Shares In Stride
We wouldn't blame Stride, Inc. (NYSE:LRN) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that Todd Goldthwaite, the Managing Director of Portfolio Companies recently netted about US$735k selling shares at an average price of US$91.54. However, that sale only accounted for 8.6% of their holding, so arguably it doesn't say much about their conviction.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Stride
Notably, that recent sale by Todd Goldthwaite is the biggest insider sale of Stride shares that we've seen in the last year. So what is clear is that an insider saw fit to sell at around the current price of US$91.07. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. We note that this sale took place at around the current price, so it isn't a major concern, though it's hardly a good sign.

Insider Ownership Of Stride
Stride
Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. It's great to see that Stride insiders own 5.6% of the company, worth about US$217m. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
So What Does This Data Suggest About Stride Insiders?
An insider sold stock recently, but they haven't been buying. And there weren't any purchases to give us comfort, over the last year. On the plus side, Stride makes money, and is growing profits. While insiders do own a lot of shares in the company (which is good), our analysis of their transactions doesn't make us feel confident about the company. While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision. Every company has risks, and we've spotted 2 warning signs for Stride you should know about.
