Collaborative research between Tama Art University and industry and academia, generating ideas in shipboard space design.

Our company and Tama Art University, under the theme of 'Cozy Comfy - Joy in Work/Life', have started the second phase of collaborative research projects focusing on sailors' lives from October.
Our company and Tama Art University signed an industry-academia collaborative research agreement on March 23, 2023, and proceeded with a sailor uniform development project themed 'KRAFT (long-term use) & LOOP (circularity) - Sailor's Wear Design' starting in April 2023 as the first phase. This is followed by the second phase, a collaborative research project with the university's co-creation project 'stell Design'. As part of a student-participatory class program, the first half of the project involves research and discussions on 'What leads to job satisfaction and joy in life?', 'What is comfort?', 'Psychological safety and stability', as well as 'What brings excitement?'. In the second half of the project, ideas for shipboard space design will be generated, focusing on creating Cozy (comfort) and Comfy (comfort) in shipboard living through specific ideas about cabin layout, furniture, lighting, sound environment, etc.
The project duration is from October 15, 2024, to July 31, 2025, with a total of 13 students from the 3rd and 2nd year of the Product Design Department, School of Industrial Arts, Tama Art University, participating.
Our company aims to improve the well-being of sailors and create a rewarding workplace environment through collaborative research with Tama Art University.
