Zhixun Finance learned that for the WeRobot event held by tesla (TSLA.US), the company's investor, ARK Investment Management, is bullish. ARK is bullish on tesla's view that the company has a large data pool from customer vehicles, giving it a significant advantage over competitors such as Waymo who lack data scale and manufacturing capacity. Although tesla will not be the first company to offer an autonomous driving platform, ARK believes it is likely to be the first company to achieve scale.

Tasha Keeney, investment analyst at ARK Investment Management, stated that while online car-hailing helps tesla expand its scale, it should not be a prerequisite for tesla's robot taxi platform, as all vehicles equipped with tesla's self-developed Hardware 3 and 4 chips can achieve fully autonomous driving through wireless software updates. Keeney stated that ARK's research indicates tesla may launch a comprehensive robot taxi network in 2025 or 2026.

It is said that a highlight of this event was tesla CEO Elon Musk's statement that the company may offer autonomous driving taxi services on a large scale for as low as $0.30 to $0.40 per mile. Keeney emphasized that in comparison, the average cost per mile in the Western online car-hailing market is around $2.4, while the average cost per mile for personal automobiles is about $0.70. She pointed out that the lower cost should make robot taxis highly competitive with human-driven ride-hailing platforms, attracting a larger user base. ARK's research indicates that tesla is targeting a market much larger than uber technologies (UBER.US) and didi global inc, with a global market size exceeding $10 trillion.
