Xpeng's CEO drove a lightly camouflaged P7+ to the Apsara Conference held by Alibaba today.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) made the real-life debut of its new electric sedan, the P7+, which is expected to go on sale and begin deliveries in the fourth quarter.

He Xiaopeng, chairman and CEO of the electric vehicle (EV) maker, drove a lightly camouflaged P7+ to the Apsara Conference held by Alibaba today.

This is the debut of the Xpeng P7+, which is positioned as the world's first AI (artificial intelligence) vehicle, Xpeng said in a statement.

The model is a product built by Xpeng based on its understanding of AI cars, with full application of AI technology from the beginning of its development, the EV maker said.

The P7+ has the ability to learn autonomously so as to proactively meet the needs of the driver and occupants for the vehicle, surpassing the current conventional AI cars, the company said.

The model, as Xpeng's first major model in the next decade, will more fully present the core product competitiveness of AI intelligent driving and open the era of AI cars, it said.

The P7+ will feature a new smart driving solution that is not limited by cities, routes, or road conditions, with door-to-door driver assistance functions, Xpeng said.

Xpeng is all in on smart driving and AI, with the goal of becoming a globally oriented AI car company in the next decade, it said.

In October and November, Xpeng will announce more about the P7+, the company said.

The P7+ is Xpeng's new model internally codenamed F57, which entered a regulatory filing catalog with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in July, allowing core specifications to be revealed.

The all-electric sedan measures 5,056 mm in length, 1,937 mm in width and 1,512 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.

These dimensions are larger than those of the Xpeng P7i sedan, which measures 4,888 mm, 1,896 mm and 1,450 mm in length, width and height, respectively, and has a wheelbase of 2,998 mm.

The Xpeng brand will begin deliveries of a new B-class all-electric sedan in the fourth quarter of this year as the first model to reach its 25 percent technology cost-reduction target, the company's management said in a May 21 earnings call.

Xpeng did not mention the name for the model at the time, but it is apparently the P7+.
