NEC has been awarded the installation of the joint kiosk terminal "Joint Kiosk" and the design of the related system by the Immigration and Resident Management Agency (hereinafter referred to as the Immigration Agency) and the Customs of the Ministry of Finance (hereinafter referred to as the Customs) to enable smoother immigration inspections and customs declarations at airports. The target airport bases for this procurement are expected to be Tokyo International Airport (Terminal 2, Terminal 3), Kansai International Airport (Terminal 1, Terminal 2), and Narita International Airport (Terminal 3). By registering the necessary information in advance on this terminal installed in the landing inspection area and coordinating the information with the systems of the Immigration Agency and the Customs, it will contribute to further smooth immigration procedures and alleviate congestion at airports.

Overview of the cooperative kiosk

Register the QR code of the foreigner's entry record and customs declaration information, as well as the passport, created in the online entry procedure service "Visit Japan Web" (Note 3), at the shared kiosk. Implement face photo shooting, facial recognition for identity verification, and reading of fingerprint information (not applicable to Japanese nationals). By linking this information to the immigration and customs systems, it contributes to smoother entry procedures and alleviates congestion at airports.

This device utilizes NEC's Bio-IDiom (note4), which is the core technology of biometric authentication, and employs facial recognition technology with the world's No.1 authentication accuracy (note5) to achieve highly reliable identity verification. In addition, it automatically selects the camera based on the user's height, allowing for speedy authentication regardless of the user's height or use of a wheelchair. Furthermore, it simplifies the process of taking facial photos for immigration inspections by automatically detecting and prompting the removal of accessories such as masks and sunglasses only for corresponding users.
Furthermore, by utilizing the fingerprint recognition technology that has been cultivated so far, it contributes to the smooth operation by speeding up fingerprint reading without sacrificing verification accuracy.

By automatically displaying the appropriate language for users when scanning the QR code of foreigner entry records and customs declaration information at a shared kiosk, the need for language settings is eliminated.
