Since institutional investors own more than half the issued stock, the board will likely have to pay attention to their preferences. We note that hedge funds don't have a meaningful investment in Walker & Dunlop. Our data shows that BlackRock, Inc. is the largest shareholder with 15% of shares outstanding. For context, the second largest shareholder holds about 11% of the shares outstanding, followed by an ownership of 5.4% by the third-largest shareholder. In addition, we found that William Walker, the CEO has 2.7% of the shares allocated to their name.
