Hitachi ·  Sep 8 23:00

The Bank of Shizuoka, Ltd. (President and CEO: Minoru Yagi, hereafter, Shizuoka Bank) and Hitachi, Ltd. (Executive Officer, President and CEO: Keiji Kojima/hereafter, Hitachi) have now completed technical verification and effect verification for the development of an account system (hereafter, this system) that operates on a public cloud, and have begun system construction.
In this system, the open account system jointly developed by the Shizuoka Bank and Hitachi is scheduled to be put into production operation on Amazon Web Services (hereinafter referred to as AWS) by the end of 2027. As a result, the Shizuoka Bank will rapidly provide financial services with even higher added value by promoting cloud first, strengthen its business continuity system, and lead to the realization of a decarbonized society through reducing power consumption.
At the same time, Hitachi will contribute to DX promotion of financial institutions by applying this system to open account systems, etc. starting with the open account package “OpenStage,” and deploying it to other financial institutions.

backgrounds

In recent years, it is important for financial institutions to respond flexibly and quickly in line with rapidly changing values and environments of diversified and sophisticated end users. Furthermore, environmentally friendly management, such as reducing resource and energy consumption associated with business activities, is also required.
Against this background, the Shizuoka Bank began a “cloud first” initiative from 2023/12 to consider making public clouds as the top priority for all group systems*1. Thus, while utilizing advanced technology in the cloud, we aim to build a financial infrastructure that can respond more quickly to the needs of end users and more stably provide financial services with high added value.
Hitachi has been working to provide value to customers and society through its long-standing partnership with AWS and diverse achievements, including mission-critical system transitions for social infrastructure companies. Also, recently, in 2024/3, we signed a strategic collaboration agreement*2 with AWS aimed at promoting system modernization and cloud migration for client companies.
Under these circumstances, technical verification and effect verification for the public cloud conversion of the open account system, which was being promoted by the three companies Shizuoka Bank, Hitachi, and AWS, were completed, and since feasibility was guaranteed, system construction officially began.
