Today, the automobile carrier “TEXAS HIGHWAY,” which is currently being operated by Kawasaki Kisen Co., Ltd. (hereafter, “our company”), obtained a notice (Note 1) from the Japan Maritime Association (hereafter, “ClassNK”) indicating that it is a ship that has taken additional fire safety measures for marine transportation of electric vehicles.
We have been strengthening our efforts for the safe transportation of automobiles for some time. As part of this, we have deployed and operated car ship fire extinguishing manuals that are compatible with electric vehicle fires on all ships operated by our company. The acquisition of this notice is an evaluation of these efforts aimed at improving transportation safety.
We plan to gradually apply and obtain notices on other ships operated by our company in the future. We will continue to further strengthen fire countermeasures, and as a shipping company that continues to be chosen by customers, we will continue to work on even safer operations.
