Recently, the LNG (liquefied natural gas) fueled car carrier ship 'NEREUS HIGHWAY', currently under construction at China Merchants Jinfeng Shipbuilding (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd., was completed and delivered to Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.
Compared to conventional fuel oils, LNG fuel is expected to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, one of the greenhouse gases (GHGs), by 25%-30%, eliminate almost 100% of sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions, which cause air pollution, and reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by approximately 75%, in accordance with the IMO's NOx Tier III regulation. This ship adopts the latest dual fuel electronic control engine, '7X62DF-2.1 iCER', developed by WinGD, which minimizes methane emissions when using LNG fuel.

In our long-term environmental vision, 'KLINE Environmental Vision 2050 - Connecting Blue Seas to Tomorrow', we have set a goal of exceeding the IMO's 2030 target of a '40% improvement in CO2 emission efficiency compared to 2008 levels' and challenging the goal of achieving net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. We will continue to promote our own decarbonization as well as support societal decarbonization.
