Investors who take an interest in Vesync Co., Ltd (HKG:2148) should definitely note that the CFO, VP & Executive Director, Zhaojun Chen, recently paid HK$4.14 per share to buy HK$829k worth of the stock. Although the purchase only increased their holding by 5.0%, it is still a solid purchase in our view.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Vesync

Vesync

Notably, that recent purchase by CFO, VP & Executive Director Zhaojun Chen was not the only time they bought Vesync shares this year. Earlier in the year, they paid HK$5.07 per share in a HK$5.1m purchase. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of HK$4.31. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when an insider has purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price. Zhaojun Chen was the only individual insider to buy during the last year.

Zhaojun Chen purchased 1.44m shares over the year. The average price per share was HK$4.94. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. Insider Ownership

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Vesync insiders own 70% of the company, currently worth about HK$3.4b based on the recent share price. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
