As of close on the 22nd, the number of advancing stocks in the Nikkei average constituent stocks was 112, while the number of declining stocks was 110, and the number of unchanged stocks was 3.

The Nikkei average rebounded. It closed the morning session at 38,190.85 yen, up 239.05 yen (+0.63%) from the previous day (with an estimated volume of approximately 0.6 billion60 million shares traded).

The U.S. stock market rebounded on the 21st. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 40,890.49 dollars, up 55.52 dollars (+0.14%), the Nasdaq closed at 17,918.99, up 102.05 points (+0.57%), and the S&P 500 closed at 5,620.85, up 23.73 points (+0.42%). It was bought on expectations of a rate cut due to a significant downward revision in the number of employees for the previous year until March, and rose after the opening. The market remained solid throughout the day, supported by some retailers' strong earnings and the decline in long-term interest rates, which also boosted high-tech stocks. It temporarily stalled due to adjustment selling ahead of Chairman Powell's speech, but it was bought again and closed higher after the Federal Reserve's release of the minutes of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting in July, which hinted at a rate cut in September.

Following the rise in the U.S. stock market, the Tokyo market started trading with a buying bias. Although there were moments when the yen's strength was disliked and the Nikkei average fell to 37,883.86 yen, it bounced back after a round of buying and steadily increased, led by futures. There were moments when it rose to over 400 yen higher than the previous day, reaching the highest level since August 1st. However, the trading value in the prime market did not increase substantially, totaling 1.8 trillion yen.

In the Nikkei average constituent stocks, Sumitomo Pharma <4506>, IHI <7013>, and Omron <6645> were bought on positive reports from domestic securities companies. In addition, Eisai <4523>, Chugai Pharmaceutical <4519>, Astellas Pharma <4503>, Shionogi <4507>, and the pharmaceutical sector also showed gains.

On the other hand, Screen HD <7735> was sold, and securities stocks such as Nomura <8604> and Daiwa Securities G <8601> were sold due to concerns about the decline in U.S. interest rates. Regional bank stocks such as Chiba Bank <8331>, Fukuoka Financial Group <8354>, and Concordia <7186> also performed poorly. In addition, Disco <6146>, Okuma <6103>, and Toyota Motor <7203> were sold.

In terms of industry, medical drugs, petroleum and coal products, chemicals, warehousing and transportation, and food products rose, while securities and commodity futures trading, rubber products, transportation equipment, banking, and nonferrous metals declined.
