Arhaus, Inc. Just Beat EPS By 36%: Here's What Analysts Think Will Happen Next
Last week, you might have seen that Arhaus, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARHS) released its quarterly result to the market. The early response was not positive, with shares down 7.3% to US$12.66 in the past week. Revenues were US$310m, approximately in line with whatthe analysts expected, although statutory earnings per share (EPS) crushed expectations, coming in at US$0.16, an impressive 36% ahead of estimates. This is an important time for investors, as they can track a company's performance in its report, look at what experts are forecasting for next year, and see if there has been any change to expectations for the business. We thought readers would find it interesting to see the analysts latest (statutory) post-earnings forecasts for next year.
Following last week's earnings report, Arhaus' eleven analysts are forecasting 2024 revenues to be US$1.27b, approximately in line with the last 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are forecast to fall 14% to US$0.54 in the same period. In the lead-up to this report, the analysts had been modelling revenues of US$1.35b and earnings per share (EPS) of US$0.74 in 2024. The analysts seem less optimistic after the recent results, reducing their revenue forecasts and making a large cut to earnings per share numbers.
It'll come as no surprise then, to learn that the analysts have cut their price target 17% to US$15.50. There's another way to think about price targets though, and that's to look at the range of price targets put forward by analysts, because a wide range of estimates could suggest a diverse view on possible outcomes for the business. Currently, the most bullish analyst values Arhaus at US$19.50 per share, while the most bearish prices it at US$13.00. This shows there is still a bit of diversity in estimates, but analysts don't appear to be totally split on the stock as though it might be a success or failure situation.
Looking at the bigger picture now, one of the ways we can make sense of these forecasts is to see how they measure up against both past performance and industry growth estimates. We would highlight that revenue is expected to reverse, with a forecast 0.3% annualised decline to the end of 2024. That is a notable change from historical growth of 22% over the last three years. Compare this with our data, which suggests that other companies in the same industry are, in aggregate, expected to see their revenue grow 4.8% per year. It's pretty clear that Arhaus' revenues are expected to perform substantially worse than the wider industry.
The Bottom Line
The most important thing to take away is that the analysts downgraded their earnings per share estimates, showing that there has been a clear decline in sentiment following these results. On the negative side, they also downgraded their revenue estimates, and forecasts imply they will perform worse than the wider industry. Furthermore, the analysts also cut their price targets, suggesting that the latest news has led to greater pessimism about the intrinsic value of the business.
With that said, the long-term trajectory of the company's earnings is a lot more important than next year. We have estimates - from multiple Arhaus analysts - going out to 2026, and you can see them free on our platform here.
