On July 26, Guo Gonghui | A survey shows that the Federal Reserve may issue a signal of a rate cut in September next week, and believes that this will kick off a quarter of rate cuts that will last until 2025. Nearly three-quarters of respondents said the Fed would use the July 30-31 meeting to lay the groundwork for a 25 basis point rate cut at the next meeting in September. However, there are differences among them on how policymakers will achieve this goal. Half of respondents believe the Fed will send a signal that a rate cut is imminent in both the policy statement and Fed Chairman Jerome Powell's news conference 30 minutes later, but other respondents expect the Fed to only choose one of the two. All respondents expect the Fed to maintain interest rates at more than two decades high in next week's meeting.
