According to local media reports, Cathay Pacific Airways (00293.HK) General Manager of Corporate Affairs, Tommy Tam Kwong-Shun, expressed confidence in achieving the goal of recruiting a total of 800 trainee pilots during 2023 and 2024. As for the first batch of mainland trainee pilots from Cathay Pacific, they will graduate as early as mid-August this year, and after receiving additional training in Hong Kong, they will be able to fly Cathay Pacific's flights as early as the end of December this year.

Tommy Tam Kwong-Shun revealed that Cathay Pacific has more than 60 mainland trainee pilots who are about to begin or already undergoing flight training, and it is expected that the number will increase to over 100 by the end of this year. He also said that the company will continue to recruit trainee pilots in mainland China and Hong Kong, with the goal of increasing the proportion of self-trained pilots from approximately 30% before the epidemic to about 50% by the end of this year.
