Sakura Internet Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka-shi, Osaka; President and CEO: Kunihiro Tanaka; hereinafter “Sakura Internet”), which provides digital infrastructure services, has signed a service contract agreement with the Defense Equipment Agency regarding “provision of services necessary for supply chain investigations, etc.”
The purpose of the supply chain survey*1 conducted by the Ministry of Defense is to grasp risks related to stable manufacturing etc. in the defense industry's supply chain and take necessary measures in order to ensure stable manufacturing, etc. of equipment, etc. by the defense industry. With the conclusion of this agreement, the IaaS type public cloud “Sakura Cloud” will be adopted as cloud infrastructure to be used for supply chain surveys conducted by the Ministry of Defense.
“Sakura Cloud” is registered in the “Security Assessment System for Government Information Systems” (commonly known as ISMAP) and satisfies the security requirements required by the Japanese government. Also, it is an IaaS type public cloud service that was conditionally certified as a “cloud service for government cloud development” solicited by the Digital Agency in fiscal 2023.
Sakura Internet is not limited to this project, but will contribute to the realization of a safe digital society by providing a full range of services from providing cloud infrastructure to support and consulting.
*1 It refers to a supply chain investigation carried out on businesses to ensure stable manufacturing, etc. of equipment, etc. based on Article 8 (1) of the “Act on Strengthening Infrastructure for the Development and Production of Equipment, etc. procured by the Ministry of Defense” (Reiwa 5 Law No. 54).
*2 With conditions that assume that technical requirements will be met by the end of fiscal year 2025
