Updated Impact Calculation and Reporting Guidelines for Solving LIXIL's Global Sanitation Challenges
LIXIL has updated its methodology for calculating the impact of its activities on improving sanitation environments, one of the priority areas of its impact strategy. Based on the updated impact calculation methodology, LIXIL has contributed to the improvement of sanitary environment for about 68 million people until March 2024 through its continuous efforts.
LIXIL has set an ambitious goal of contributing to the improvement of sanitary environment and the quality of life of 100 million people by 2025 by providing innovative toilets and hand-washing facilities in affordable price ranges. Efforts have been strengthened and progress towards this goal is disclosed transparently every year. The revision of the impact calculation method this time is part of these efforts and intended to clarify the direct impact of LIXIL's activities and further enhance transparency.
In the conventional calculation method, the impact was measured based on the number of toilets and hand-washing facilities used in general households. However, considering the expansion of SATO's product lineup and the evolution of impact measurement methods in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) field, LIXIL has continued to review the calculation method with advice from partners regarding best practices in various environments, cultures and regions.
With the revision of the impact calculation method, LIXIL has disclosed the verification results of the impact data from activities since the March 2013 period and the latest impact figures for the March 2024 period. This reflects LIXIL's continued efforts to improve impact measurement and to disclose information transparently.
