Beijing, June 17, 2024 / PRNewswire / - IBM (NYSE: IBM) and the All England Lawn Tennis Club announced today the launch of a brand new digital experience feature at this year's Wimbledon tennis championships, which will use match data and IBM's AI and data platform Watsonx's generative AI to provide fans with real-time updates on the world's top players in the tournament.

IBM Watsonx brings a brand new AI-generated digital experience to Wimbledon tennis fans around the world.

The new "Catch Me Up" feature, available on wimbledon.com and the Wimbledon 2024 app, displays pre- and post-match player cards that include AI-generated player stories and analysis. Player cards will be personalized based on user preferences and data, such as their location and profile on myWimbledon, starting with their favorite players. Pre-match content will include recent performance analysis and win probability predictions, while post-match content will include key statistics and highlights. The feature will also create longer daily match summaries.

"Catch Me Up" was built using the IBM Granite Large Language Model (LLM) and leverages WatsonX platform capabilities to provide AI-generated text. The model has been trained based on Wimbledon's editorial style and will be monitored by the All England Club. This new feature aims to help Wimbledon provide more content for new and old tennis fans worldwide by offering more timely and well-planned coverage of men's and women's singles matches, which often take place simultaneously.

This year, Wimbledon will also use generative AI to cover a broader range of tournament content, including wheelchair events, to offer more services for Wimbledon's diverse global audience. This will be part of the newly designed IBM Slamtracker digital tournament center on the Wimbledon app and wimbledon.com. IBM Slamtracker uses generative AI capabilities built on WatsonX to provide point-by-point match previews and post-match commentary for women's and men's singles matches.
