Regarding the receipt of the investigative report by the investigation committee.
Nitto Denko Corporation (Headquarters: Osaka, President: Hideo Takasaki, hereinafter referred to as "the Company") established a committee of external experts to investigate the "improper conduct regarding the certification system for our membrane modules for water supply" (hereinafter referred to as the "improper conduct"), which was announced on January 5, 2024.
We have received the "Investigation Report" regarding this investigation and would like to report the following.
1. Results of the Investigation
According to this report, it is unlikely that the improper conduct will have any impact on water users, as it does not produce results that do not meet the criteria laid down in the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Ordinance. However, the following proposals have been put forward as preventive measures against recurrence.
- 1) Declaration of the need for a management reform by the management team
- 2) Acquisition of specialized knowledge and skills
- 3) Examination of the department in charge of certification-related work
- 4) Creation of a system for passing down work duties
- 5) Need of certification by the Membrane Society
- 6) Appropriate allocation of personnel
- 7) Sharing of information
- 8) Active use of "Kurumaza"
- 9) Understanding of the basic concept of quality and promotion of the quality management system.
(For details, please refer to the attached "Chapter 6: Proposals for Preventing Recurrence" in the investigation report.)
2. Future Issues
We take this inappropriate behavior seriously and have already been promoting employee awareness and strengthening our quality system.
In the future, based on the recommendations for preventative measures in the investigation report, we will develop further review and new preventative measures and implement them in due course.
We deeply apologize for causing significant worry and inconvenience to our customers, water utilities, water users, and various related parties, including the Membrane Society, due to our inappropriate behavior.
