Approach to SDGs, ESG, and CSR

Needs Well Co., Ltd. is conducting activities from two aspects in SDGs, ESG, and CSR. One is an effort that is directly related to the business itself incorporating the perspectives of SDGs, ESG, and CSR, and the other is an effort to support a sustainable society through systems and support activities.

1. Efforts directly related to business

As efforts directly related to business in SDGs, ESG, and CSR, we aim to promote "Nearshore Development Promotion", "Development of new solutions that assist DX", and "Business growth through partnership promotion".

"Nearshore Development Promotion" is positioned as one of the growth strategies for sustainable management of SDGs and mid-term management plans, and we opened the "Nagasaki Development Center" in Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture, in October 2019. We aim to contribute to the creation of a prosperous city by utilizing excellent local human resources, promoting industrial infrastructure and technological innovation, and creating employment, aiming for a 100-person organization by the end of the September 2024 period. We are certified as the first registered business operator in Nagasaki Prefecture SDGs registration system, and we are promoting initiatives such as participation in the "local creation SDGs public-private partnership platform" established by the Cabinet Office.

"Development of new solutions that assist DX" aims to solve the issue of hindering the realization of DX due to the existence of individually constructed systems, the complexity and black-boxing of systems due to excessive customization, etc. By using AI technology to build platforms, provide systems, analyze data, and realize collaboration with RPA, we assist DX and contribute to the construction of industrial infrastructure in the digital society.

"Business growth through partnership promotion" is aimed at establishing a long-term development structure by working together with a variety of companies for business tie-ups and cooperation. We have established partnerships with IT For, Canon IT Solutions Inc., Ascentech Co., Ltd., Sumitomo Mitsui Card Co., Ltd., Sakura Information Systems Co., Ltd., Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company, Connectio Co., Ltd., and Mitsubishi Research DCS Co., Ltd. and promote partnerships with group companies, orderers and suppliers, expanding sales, orders, products, and technicians, and synergistically building a long-lasting development structure together.

2. Efforts to support through systems and support activities

The company is addressing work style reform and human resource development through "encouragement of paid vacation taking day" that encourages employees to take planned vacations, "premium Fridays" that encourages early leave on the last Friday of each month to enjoy hobbies and spend time with family, and "reduction of overtime hours," "system for training and motivation improvement," and "system for deepening communication." It also supports appropriate work placement and motivation improvement by introducing the "double job system," "in-house FA system," and "support system for returning to work."

(1) Double job system

A system that allows you to experience work that interests you even outside your department. It aims to develop a new career that suits you while acquiring new professional knowledge and flexible responsiveness by working on tasks in a different environment from your own department, and to increase motivation by building new human relationships and being exposed to diverse values. If the recipient department can accept it and the person wishes, it is possible to work on tasks in other departments by about 30% of their own workload. It started with administrative staff from April 2023.

(2) In-house FA system

A system in which employees can apply for transfer to recruitment projects themselves. It aims to develop a broad perspective by participating in new work, improve further abilities and career development. In addition, it aims to improve motivation by allowing you to touch on new technologies and knowledge in projects that interest you. It started for all employees from October 2023.

(3) Support system for returning to work

This is a system that prepares the best work for the person based on the hearing from the leave of absence applicant who wishes to return to work, as well as the opinions of superiors and industrial doctors. Starting from October 2023, it will prevent them from becoming mentally unwell again due to absence from work by performing the same duties as before returning to work in the affiliated department. In addition, they have decided to introduce a "comeback system" as a reemployment system for retirees from April 2024.

In order to reduce the commuting burden, reduce employee stress and fatigue, promote women's participation, and further promote paperless work by using web conferencing, a telework system has been introduced for all employees.

They also aim to improve the ratio of female employees and executives and have agreed to the spirit of the local "Nagasaki Women's Promotion Conference." They have made the following voluntary declarations: 1) A female executive ratio of 30% or more, 2) A female employee ratio of 30% or more for the entire company, 3) Monthly overtime hours of all employees averaging 20 hours or less, and 4) Promote telework to enable employees on childcare leave to return to work easily and realize working styles tailored to each employee.

In addition, they are actively promoting initiatives such as a "student-oriented AI programming classroom" and sponsor activities for the soccer J-League team "V-Varen Nagasaki."
