GLONGHUI, May 21 | Ford Motor said it supports the Biden administration's move to drastically cut vehicle emissions by 2032, refuting the Republican Party's argument that the new climate rules are bad for business. The company said it supports the regulations announced by the US Environmental Protection Agency in March to reduce passenger car exhaust emissions by nearly 50% from 2027 by 2032. Compliance with emissions regulations requires a long period of advance planning, and Ford has taken steps to transform its business to ensure compliance with more stringent emissions standards. The Automotive Innovation Alliance expressed support for the Environmental Protection Agency to include electric vehicles in the average emissions of the entire fleet and exclude upstream emissions from compliance calculations, but did not comment on the legality of the entire rule or standard. Last month, 25 states led by the Republican Party sued the EPA, arguing that the new regulations were illegal and unworkable. Republican state officials believe the government wants to change the US passenger car market through strict regulations and force automakers to switch production to electric vehicles.
